I need to write as I haven’t done so for far too long. My head is full to bursting my heart feels weak. I have doubts and anxieties. To be vulnerable is hard, we struggle to find those words but when we take that first step we make progress.
Speaking from the heart shifts that energy quickly, reduces its intensity and removes the negativity. But what to do with it? For me the process of sharing it with someone or something unconnected with the situation that I trust and feel safe with, for example my journal, close friends or the natural world is the key for me. It makes the second step so much easier – honestly, once you minimize a situation, the mind can start to move on and deal with what you need to do next.
Finding ways to express ourselves, if words don’t come easily from our mouths or stay stuck in our heads is vital for our well-being and the close relationships around us. So what can you do?
Firstly grounding yourself in the energy of this earth, to feel your connection here and with the world is a simple process which done in a deliberate way anchors us to start the next stage of accessing those difficult thoughts and emotions. Although it may feel like an activity you associate with childhood, picking up a coloured pen and paper and seeing where to takes you can be full of interesting surprises.
TIME and PERMISSION are the two big important issues. You have no expectations of what will result, you’re not going to win a prize or find a big gold shiny key, you’re just going to explore. Maybe words, images, drawings or ideas will emerge. Maybe they won’t make sense. None of that matters. What does is that you’ve allowed yourself this space to disentangle some of the issues, this stuckness you feel.
You will see the benefits, perhaps not clearly or straight away, but you’ve taken a peek, had a whiff or lightly touched another place that exists within us all. This place can be heaven or hell depending on our perception. Rest assured what it feels like now is not how it could feel in the next minute, next day or next week.
Perhaps you need to ask for a compass to help you navigate this new place and explore all it has to offer? Do you need a guide or a companion to share this adventure? You can ask these simple questions and listen for their answers in your ears and elsewhere in your body. You have all the answers you need, but it’s easy to mislay the tools to navigate this new place easily.
I see you as Scott going to the Antarctic, it’s a challenge but it’s doable. First the grounding, then the expression, then comes the answers, followed by strengthened self-beliefs with guidance on what to do next and where to go.
